IVF Treatment in Germany
Everything you need to know about fertility treatments in Germany. Laws, costs, and trusted partner clinics.
Legal Framework
Germany has relatively restrictive fertility laws governed by the Embryo Protection Act (Embryonenschutzgesetz). Egg donation is strictly prohibited, but sperm donation is legal. IVF is available for married and unmarried couples. Embryo freezing is permitted under specific conditions. PGD (PGT-M) is allowed only for serious genetic disorders with ethics committee approval. Gender selection and surrogacy are prohibited. German health insurance partially covers IVF costs for married couples under 40 (women) and 50 (men) for up to 3 cycles.
